Welcome to the Memorials Around Britain website. Having volunteered for the Imperial War Museum and travelled around a lot of Great Britain on my Tramper mobility scooter with my cats recording memorials I decided to build my own website. I also where possible link the names on a memorial to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission records.

I have sought to recreate the layout of the wording exactly as it is shown on the memorial, harder than you might think when everything is database driven. I also include spelling errors on the memorials. The casualty information is taken from the Commonwealth War Graves Commision database, errors in this are beyond my control.

The records of the memorials are organised by country, current county or unitary authority and then by location.

I will be continually updating and adding records. I also tend to tweak the way the information is displayed when something is pointed out to me that could be presented better.

I have changed slightly how the records are displayed, it was (where applicable) suburban area, town/city, it is now city/town, suburban area.
